I left you a voice message also, but I just have to tell you how thrilled we are with this place. I want to sing your praises to the heavens! I have seen lots of vacation rentals but Ambleside is the gold standard! It is so beautiful and so perfect inside and out, we are absolutely and completely delighted. Words cannot describe. I could try but I would run out of adjectives. Honestly, I am so happy here I'm almost crying. (And I'm kind of a big, burly guy -- well in touch with his feminine side, to be sure, but still .....!) We got in last night, about 7-ish, thankfully before it got dark so we had time to look around and enjoy the little private enchanted forest that surrounds the house, with it's pretty babbling brook and exquisite trees. We ate probably the best oysters we've ever tasted, that we'd stopped and bought at Hama Hama Oyster Co., and washed 'em down with some Black Butte Porter. Awesome.
I looked around the house and familiarized myself with everything. If I had to choose one word, I would say THOUGHTFUL. Everything is so well-designed, so well-equipped, provided for, nicely decorated and furnished, well thought-out. You must be a perfectionist because the attention to detail is beyond amazing. Incidentally, I mistakenly dialed Carol's number before I dialed yours and then went ahead and left a message complimenting her as well, because the house was immaculate and wonderfully prepped when we walked in. We definitely notice and appreciate ALL of the little extra touches -- a few lights left on, the soft gentle music playing, etc., and then just EVERYTHING ... everything you could want or need, all accessible and easy to find ... and the decor and all the lovely little things around the house. It makes such a big difference. I know, I'm gushing here but really, it's well-deserved, because you have done an outstanding job and someone has to tell you so. We have a couple of rental places ourselves and work with an excellent property manager and we know what's required and what goes into it. You and your staff are to be congratulated, because everything about this place is FIRST CLASS. Speaking of which, the perfect to end to the perfect evening last night was slipping into that luxurious king bed with what must be, like, 700 thread-count sheets or something! Heavenly.
Slept great and woke up this morning refreshed, had a lovely breakfast and from the very nice collection of CD's, my wife picked out some Beethoven .... of course! Only the best! Fits this place!
In fact, the ONLY problem is that we came to see the park but I don't know how we're going to be able to tear ourselves away from the house. I never want to leave. You may have to drag us out kicking and screaming on Tuesday. Again, my compliments to both you and to the owners. This is a great example of what can be achieved when a good conscientious owner and competent property manager work well together as a team.
Last thing I want to mention. My wife and I are traveling with her mom, who comes from Japan to visit us for a couple months every summer (for about the past eight years since my wife's dad passed away -- and BTW, they said he would have loved this place too). We always take a little two-week trip with her -- have gone to many cool places (Niagara Falls and Toronto, Alaska Cruise, National Parks (Yosemite, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Grand Canyon), etc., and this trip to Oregon and Washington (where we've never been before) is turning out to be equally gratifying and fun. She loves it so much and it mean so much to us to be able to give her this gift and see her enjoying herself and seeing such beautiful places and spending this time with us. Just wanted you to know. It's very special.
